Artist's Statement

I am fascinated by the landscape that surrounds us.  I wonder how there can be so much beauty in the world and how it is made up of infinitely tiny particles.  The tiny things in a landscape are the heart and soul of what lies in front of us, yet the details are missed as we gaze over the splendor.  Much like pixels on a computer screen, the small things are what drive the creation of a larger whole.  As I created this series, I was interested in the phrase, "out of small and simple things are great things brought to pass."  The phrase captures the essence of what I wanted to convey with these images.
