Artist's Statement

I am facinated by the landscape that surrounds us.  I wonder how there can be so much beauty in the world and how it is made up of infinitely tiny particles.  The tiny things in a landscape are the heart and soul of what lies in front of us, yet the details are missed as we gaze over the splendor.  Much like pixels on a computer screen, the small things are what drive the creation of a larger whole.  As I created this series, I was interested in the phrase, "out of small and simple things are great things brought to pass."  The phrase captures the essence of what I wanted to convey with these images.

All of the images that you see in my portfolio are "digital paintings."  Most have some element of traditional watercolor or oil, combined with photography.  The result is an image that I print on a Light Jet printer, an extremely high-quality digital photographic printer.  Editions are limited to 50 prints.
